ホッチキス HOTCHKISS - EMMA'S DELL (Deep Thought Mix) - Video & Lyrics

a small stream
running with a young man’s speed
the sound of water
through budding groves

she weaves between
still traffic
sirens wail
building to building

in the confusion a leafless ash-tree
in the coffee-shop dirt under her nails
alive to the world
a song bird vying with a waterfall

neon signs
flick on and off
sidewalk daisies
swapping stories

a single cottage
on the distant mountain
bright green hawthorn
talking to shepherds

in the confusion a leafless ash-tree
in the coffee-shop dirt under her nails
alive to the world
a song bird vying with a waterfall

Venture Theatre - Ashby de la Zouch

Venture Theatre  community theatre in the heart of North West Leicestershire Paul Conneally

It's good to see that at least some 'little theatres' and their ilk continue to exist in some communities across the UK. I had the pleasure of giving a performative talk here at the Venture Theatre in Ashby de la Zouch before the first public community reading of the new audio drama 'The Winter Garden' by Matthew Pegg.

The theatre is tiny, cosy, and welcoming with a bar in the auditorium itself.

I hereby 'big up' Venture Theatre and the dedicated group that help run it for, in and with the community it sits in!

HER EYES ARE WILD

warmer than summer
underneath the haystack
the English tongue

she drinks beer
from the supermarket
in the town square
feeding potato-chips
to pigeons and sparrows

how far I've travelled to find
one need replaces another

her dog growls
at midnight revellers
coming too close
as she sleeps soundly
in the shoe-shop doorway

the night in my hair
turns black
burning stars

Sarah Hutchinson's Breast - Transform Snibston William Wordsworth Trail

Queen's Head Pub Thringstone - Transform Snibston William Wordsworth Trail - Paul Conneally 2011

On Saturday 27 December 1806 the great poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge writes in his notebook that he went from Coleorton, where he was staying with Wordsworth and his family, to the Queen's Head at 'Stringston'.

Here, he believed, probably due to opium and brandy, that Wordsworth was in bed with his sister-in -law Sarah Hutchinson, who Coleridge had fallen in love with. Coleridge writes that it was here that he had a vision of Sarah's naked breast, a vision that he carried with him for many years, writing about it several times.

The pub was closed in 2008 and is now converted into residential housing.

This picture shows it on the 27th April 2011 as conversion was taking place.
