Easter and Whitsuntide - in particular Whitsuntide - were times when I was young that new clothes were worn - yes especially Whitsun - when us children would be dressed up and and knock on all the neighbours' doors to show off our new clothes and they would in return give us some 'Whitsuntide Money'
